With the charisma of Smokey Robinson, the sultriness of Teddy Pendergrass and the deliverance of Luther Vandross, this up-coming performer has begun carving his way to become the most sought after balladeer of the new millennium. Marvin Junior, Jr. [multi-talented] – singer, songwriter, producer and athlete – is making his debut as a solo performer, following in his fathers’ footsteps – Marvin Junior, Sr. – lead vocalist for the internationally renowned, Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame R&B singing group, THE DELLS. Born into a musical family, Marvin is the eldest son of six children. Marvin began his interest in music at a young age (part of a group called SuperSoul) performing in his High School Band (Thornridge) as a drummer. After graduating from High School, Marvin began to write music. Having co-written over 300 songs, Marvin has unmistakably established himself as a contender in the songwriters industry. Marvin has had first hand experiences of what it takes to become a professional in the game. From being the Dells’ valet, designing their wardrobes, from management, production, artistic direction, he’s seen the whole gamut. Traveling with the Dells while on tour throughout the United States and overseas has inspired Marvin to establish a career as a vocalist, as well as a songwriter and producer. Marvin has opened for the Dells, O’Jays, Whispers, Chi-lites, Ray, Goodman and Brown, Tyrone Davis, Chante Savage and more. Marvin sang background vocals in a Tribute to Eddie Kendrix at the Wilturn Theater in Los Angeles, singing with such superstars as: Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Howard Hewitt, Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind and Fire and Stevie Wonder. Marvin also sang background for the Robert Townsend Five Heartbeats Tour, which included a one-on-one comic improv skit with Robert Townsend. Marvin is very comfortable on stage. Some of the renowned stages he has performed on are: The Star Plaza, Merrivlle, IN, Regal Theater, Chicago, IL, The Beacon Theater in New York, Friar Tuck Resort, Catskills, NY, The Front Row in Cleveland, OH, The Fox Theater, Detroit, MI, Symphony Hall, Philadelphia, PA, Westbury, NY, and the list continues. Being heirs to the talents of their fathers, Marvin Junior, Jr. Curtis Mayfield, III and David Ruffin, Jr. got together in tribute to honor their fathers a song co-written by Marvin Junior, Jr.: “Here We Stand” with the chorus line: Here we Stand with the names of our father. One for all and all for one another – a tear jerker. This production shows the love, respect and appreciation that each have for their fathers work. They say life is a full circle, so here I am once again with steppers delight: Let’s Step the Night-Away can I tell you I love you |
